≡ 100 at Orchard Golf and Country Club

Me and my wife Olive played last week at Orchard Golf Country Club with my friends Wally de Leon, Orville Cabungcal and Alvin Batausa. This is the first of five games i need to play in a FGCPI member golf course before i can get my official handicap that i can use in Federation hosted tournaments.

The last time i played at Orchard was november of last year and that was the Founders Cup and my best score was 107 so obviously my goal was to break 100 and if i achieve it, it would by my first time to break 100 on a long course or a championship course because i already broke 100 on other courses even broke 90 (88 in Aguinaldo Golf and Country Club ; 89 Valley Golf and Country Club and 89 in Veterans Golf and Country Club) but these are public courses or par 70 courses, long courses such as orchard are much harder to break 100 would you believe that my friend even want to bet 1000 bucks that i wont be able to break 120 and i didnt but that was 2 years ago.

Anyway i was playing pretty well that day and my short game was ok the bad thing was that the greens were full of sand as it was being fertilized and is much harder to putt with all the mini holes in the greens yet my putting was fine it could have been much better had the greens were in good condition.

i was hitting pars and bogeys most of the time and a 9 at a par 5 which was my worst score and for the first time since playing at orchard 2 years ago i didnt have a double par the whole round so that would really be a clear sign that my game has been improving fast lately. What i was really bummed about is on the last hole i was only 9 over on the back nine when i dubbed my drive going to the water and i tried to save a double bogey on that hole but i ended up with another 9 and the thing is the last putt was just a 2 footer straight down the line and i missed it on the edge and when we counted our scores i had a dead on 100!!! had i just made that last putt i could have achieved my goal of breaking a 100 had i known it was that crucial i could have taken a longer time putting it.

As a consolation I won the betting overall i won around 2,800 bucks orville’s score was also 100 but hes giving me a 3-3 plus so i still won including the plus but he said next time he’s only giving me a plus 2-2 which is ok with me. My wife scored 141 and Wally scored 130 and Alvin 112. I will be giving Wally and Alvin a plus 3-3 the next time we play.

Hopefully next time ill be able to break 100.
